According to the Bangladesh Bank’s existing instruction, a bank can spend 60% fund of its Corporate Social Responsibility Budget on its health sector, 30% on the education sector and 10% for the climate change sector. By a recent published circular, BB ordered the respective scheduled banks to expand their CSR support to the district level, instructing them to ensure the usage of the overall 60% CSR expenditure to be utilised for immediate emergency purposes to tackle the coronavirus pandemic and to provide the necessary PCR machine, ventilator machine, oxygen cylinder required for treatment of the coronavirus-infected patients.
